Monomaterials

Recyclable structures designed from a single type of material

Mono-material structures designed to facilitate recycling and move towards more circular packaging, without compromising the technical performance of the packaging.
Solutions aligned with the principles of the circular economy, which maintain high levels of barrier, mechanical strength and efficiency in packaging processes.

  • Typologies of mono-material structures
At BOLSAPLAST, monomaterial developments are mainly based on:
  • Full PE structures (100% Polyethylene)
They offer excellent sealability, flexibility and mechanical strength. They can incorporate treatments or metallisation on PE to improve the barrier to oxygen, water vapour and light, while maintaining recyclability within the polyethylene flow.
  • Full PP Structures (100% Polypropylene)
Suitable for applications requiring higher stiffness, thermal resistance or transparency, being recyclable within the PP flow.

Performance and applications

Monomaterials allow:

Recyclability within existing circuits.

Good performance in packaging machines.

Barrier properties adapted to each application.

Possibility to integrate post-consumer recycled material (PCR), even for food contact, complying with current regulations.

They are particularly suitable for:

Dry food and sensitive products, such as coffee, nuts, cereals and superfoods.

Cosmetics and personal care, in flexible formats.

Powdered or granulated products, which require good barrier and sealability.

Circular economy oriented brands, which prioritise recyclable packaging.

PCR-compatible applications, while maintaining regulatory compliance.

Mono-materials represent a strategic solution for projects that seek to advancing sustainability while maintaining the technical performance of packaging.
